Jim Steele
James Patrick Steele started his career in the
Air Force Signal Corps, then transferred to the
Armed Forces Photographic unit, where he was resposible
for motion picture efforts in several military
campaigns. He gravitated toward feature film editing,
and after his discharge, he apprenticed to several
top Hollywood studio editors, eventually becoming
1st assistant on such works as TOP RIFLE and THE
DEATH CHAMBER CHRONICLES. Jim prefers editing
in the traditional way, on 35mm film with splices,
so that the ongoing project can be screened in
theaters for evaluation. Despite his traditonal
background, Jim's imagination and daring led him
to experiment with the most basic tenents of traditional
film narrative resulting in the multi-take, multi-layered
editing style seen throughout FILM SCHOOL CONFIDENTIAL.
